The annual intake capacity of the Medical College for MBBS is 100 and 54 PG seats in various departments. The process to increase MBBS seats to 100 is already going on. With upgradation of Medical College, the PG capacity of Medical College would be increased to 105 as per the new MCI guidelines. Medical College, Gorakhpur Rules and Regulations, and other information Discipline and Dress code BRD Medical College is known for its high standard of discipline. All acts of indiscipline are taken seriously by the proctorial board and dealt according to rules. All students are required to put on white aprons, and preferably white shirts and white trousers. All students are required to get their names embroided on the front of their aprons, or wear name plates over apron, and wear them during lectures, demonstrations, clinical postings, seminars, etc. Respect for seniors and concern for colleagues is a golden tradition of this institution.
B. Attendance All students are required to attend all lectures, demonstrations, tutorials, practical, and clinics according to the college time-table. Bunking any of the teachings without any valid reason may attract disciplinary action. Mass bunking of classes is not allowed for any reason whatsoever. Students absent from classes on health grounds may inform the respective head of the departments or the principal with proper proof. All students have to put in a minimum of 75% attendance in lectures, and minimum 80% attendance in non-lecture teachings of individual subjects to be able to appear for University Examination for those subjects. Absence from University Examination is not permitted for any reason. Absence from any terminal examination would attract zero marks, except those who happen to fall ill, and are either admitted to Nehru Hospital of this college and are so certified by a clinician and countersigned by head of the department. In case the student is out of Gorakhpur after obtaining due permission of the principal/ warden/ head of the department, and he is unable to appear in terminal examination on account of falling ill, he will have to produce a certificate from the CMO of the district concerned. Such students may be permitted to appear in supplementary terminal examination by the concerned head of the department, provided a written request for the same is made within one week of the terminal examination.
C. Holidays and Vacations The college remains closed on Sundays and on Gazetted Holidays as declared by Government of Uttar Pradesh and District Magistrate of Gorakhpur from time to time. The college observes summer vacation from 16th May to 15th July every year. The winter vacation is observed from 16th December to 15th January every year. The students are allowed vacation from 2nd Professional onwards in one half of vacations as decided by the principal.
D. Fees The college and hostel fee is payable once a year, at the time of admission for the first year students, and then in the month of August-September every year. The name of the student may be stuck-off the rolls of the college for non-payment of the fee as per government order. Development fees : Rs. 2,000/- per annum.
